LabMan has been rescheduled for 2022! New dates are June 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
Here are some answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. We will be updating this section more frequently so check back often, but if you still have a question please reach out to us at [email protected]
Due to the unforeseen public health crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided it was in the best interest of the LabMan community and all participants to reschedule. Unfortunately, given were the US is with vaccine distribution, we are being forced to reschedule yet again to June 2022. We did not make this decision lightly and considered a variety of reasons why it was best to reschudule including travel restrictions, budgetary constraints, and of course the safety and well-being of all participants.
Yes! If you already registered for LabMan 2020, your registration will automatically transfer to LabMan 2022.
If you already registered and you are unable to attend you have two options. Contact us at [email protected] transfer or cancel your registration.
Option 1) Non-Sponsor attendees may transfer your registration to another person (anyone) for free one time. We will pay the transfer fee ($10) our registration provider charges on your behalf. After you transfer your registration you will no longer be eligible for a refund nor will the recipient of your transferred registration. The new recipient may cancel their registration but will NOT be eligible to transfer their registration further to another individual. Transfer recipients are not eligible to receive a refund.
Option 2) Non-Sponsor attendees may receive a refund if requested before September 1st, 2021. After this date, registrations may not be cancelled for any reason. ALL refunds are subject to a 10% cancellation fee. We must charge this fee to cover the cost of services provided to us by our registration provider ($10) and to offset the cost of conference costs and personal protective equipment.
All previous hotel reservations have been cancelled and you should have received an automatic refund. New reservastions can be made by visiting the attend page and using the link to our lodging partner(s) to book a room.
We take participant safety very seriously. For that reason and many others (namely university, state, and federal guidelines), we have opted to follow CDC recommended practices for keeping participants safe during the conferece.
Upon arrival, ALL participants will be provided with a mask for each day of the conferece, as well as hand-sanitizer spray and hand-wipes.
Beyond providing personal protective equipment for ALL participants, the Labman team is working to ensure physical distancing practices are maintained at all times with seating spaced appropriately, lines and queues with designated place-markers, and we're leaving more time between sessions to allow for restroom breaks to encourage frequent hand-washing. As we finalize venue layout plans for the conference, please revisit this page for more details.
Our goal is to ensure LabMan continues for years to come. The team at VCU organizaing the upcoming LabMan conference for 2022 is committed to hosting an in-person event, although the continued success of the conference will undoubtedly rely on other schools volunteering to host future LabMan in-person events.
Part of that mission has been to seriously reevaluate how LabMan as a conference operates and begin thinking about ways to create a more repeatable and resilient structure more similar to some of our national peer conferences like ACM SIGUCCS and CCUMC.
In time, the way LabMan is hosted and it's orginizational structure may change, but the overall spirit of the event and community will not.
